Baron Daniel Finkelstein OBE is a prolific presence in politics, an award-winning journalist, associate editor and weekly political columnist for The Times newspaper.
Daniel joined The Times in 2001, where he has held various positions including associate editor and lead writer comment editor, chief leader writer, and executive editor with responsibility for digital publications. He writes a weekly column for the paper on public policy and social affairs.
Before joining The Times, he was an adviser to Prime Minister John Major—which earned him an OBE—and then to the Conservative leader William Hague. Daniel was granted a peerage in 2013, and now sits in the House of Lords where he continues to draw on his many years in political service.
Daniel’s wealth of knowledge, charisma, and political insight has shone through on major television programmes such as Newsnight, Daily Politics, and Question Time. He often shares a platform with notable individuals (such as Bono and Tony Benn), has interviewed David Cameron on stage and has been featured on podcasts with Frank Skinner and David Baddiel.
A medical doctor by trade, Penny Dash leads McKinsey’s health care work across Europe. She has substantial expertise in redesigning health care services in order to improve life expectancy, ensure high-quality services, and reduce cost.
Penny has worked on many aspects of health system and payor strategy, such as initiatives to redesign care across care pathways, restructuring or reconfiguring providers to drive improvements in quality and cost, ensuring a well-trained and efficient workforce, and using competition and information to drive improvements in care. She serves hospitals to develop strategies for growth, improved quality of care, and financial performance and has also worked with a number of providers to transform their services.
Penny has worked with clients as diverse as local health systems, hospitals, start-up companies, and think tanks—predominantly in the United Kingdom, across Europe, and Australia. She was previously the head of strategy for the National Health Service in the United Kingdom, where she developed the NHS Plan, which is still used today as a guide for policy direction. She is also a fellow of the Royal College of Physicians, and was the vice chairman of The King’s Fund from 2006 to 2015 and the founder and director of the Cambridge Health Network. From 2004 to 2006, she served as a non-executive director of Monitor, the independent regulator of health foundation trusts in the United Kingdom.
